It’s early morning, the sun has risen and I am enjoying a lovely cup of coffee by the fire. The remnants of fire from last night that is. But it is still enough to keep me warm!
I did not sit down to write with a specific topic in mind. But somehow I ended up on the back porch, with the sweetest pups and my laptop. So what else would I do, but write? I am currently gazing across the lawn, appreciating how simple but beautiful the rays of sun are as they gleam across the blades of grass covered in dew. This is one of those stop and smell the roses moment I believe! Lately in life I have been making it more of a priority to appreciate the simple things in life, because after all, it is all of those simple things that form such a wonderful life!
Life has brought me many challenges in my 40 years on earth. Not one of which has ever taken me down! Maybe knocked me down a little, but I have always gotten back up, stronger and more eager than before. And as I sit here at my temporary home away from my temporary home, I can’t think of a more appropriate moment than now to ponder that.
I could never be homeless. That isn’t a brag, it’s just a statement that may seem weird to say, but it is also something I have never stopped to think about. Between my amazing family and all of my fantastic friends, who are abosolutely family to me, I never have to worry about not having a place to lay my head. How amazing is that, to be surrounded by such love. And not just for myself but for my children. I may not have done many great things in life but finding the people to surround myself with was definitely one of the smartest!
How to turn sappy blog post into funny blog post? Well, I would tell you a construction joke…but I’m still working on it! Ha! Ok, lame I know! But I bet you smiled!! Recently I met up with an old friend and it was great catching up. I also got the best compliments and suggestion for my future and I just can’t stop thinking about it. Will I tell you what it was? Not yet!! But I am going to do some serious reflecting on it. Because honestly, when is the best time to make major and exciting changes in your life? Well every damn day!!
Back to those remnants of fire. Isn’t it funny how even the leftovers are sometimes as good as the original? Some foods…the fire from last night keeping me warm this cool morning…memories that make you smile. Remnants throughout your life are what make up your being. And how many times do we just toss those out? Often. What if we started trying to savor those remains? Reflect on the things we have left over, and use them. I think life would be so much more enjoyable and we would be able to appreciate everything we have and have had if we did that. If these small embers that burned all night can be awakened and turned into warmth for me this morning then I have complete confidence that everyone can find things in their life to renew and reuse.
Did you know the reason you can’t hear a pterodactyl go to the bathroom is because the P is silent?! Come on! That’s pretty funny! Also I might get part of my sense of humor from laffy taffy! Sense of humor, probably my favorite of senses. Well after, sight…and taste…and hearing, smelling and touching! Humor is totally next! It might be the thing that has gotten me though life! And I am so proud of that!! I hope everyone is able to have more humor in their life every day! Because a life without laughter is like popcorn without butter…you can still eat it but you won’t have as big of a smile on your face!!
To conclude (to be fair….had to for worm) Random thoughts by Nicole apparently!! Maybe there was a point, or four! Maybe I was just able to ramble a bit and tricked y’all into reading it!! Whichever the case I hope you smiled!
